WTSA STATE OFFICE

About Me 😎

👋 Hello, my name is Willy McClanathan, and I am excited to run for a Washington TSA
State Officer position! My TSA journey began five years ago, including this year, and it has
become a defining part of my academic and leadership experience. Currently, I serve as
my chapter’s Historian and have been actively involved in TSA at both the chapter and
state levels.

Beyond TSA, I am deeply involved in student leadership as my school’s Class of
2027 Secretary and a dedicated member of ASB for the past two years. My passion
for teamwork and excellence also extends to athletics, I compete in cross country,
swimming, and golf while balancing a rigorous academic schedule, taking all AP
and honors courses. Additionally, I work as a lifeguard and swim instructor several
days a week.

Through my leadership roles, competition experience, and commitment to TSA, I
am eager to help grow WTSA, enhance resources for members, and support every
chapter in reaching its full potential. I look forward to the opportunity to serve and
make a lasting impact on our TSA community!

My TSA Events

Dragster Design

(My Favorite!)

(Design and build a CO2 powered dragster focused on
speed, aerodynamics, and weight. This year’s challenge is
creating an ultra lightweight car while maintaining strength
and performance, the diverse aspects and flexibility of this
event is the reason of it being my favorite.)

Technology Problem Solving

Drones Challenge

(Work as a team to solve engineering challenges using
limited materials. Quick thinking, creativity, and
teamwork are key in this timed event.)

(Design, program, and fly a drone through
obstacle courses and complete tasks. Focus
on precision piloting and problem solving in
real time.)

My Ideas for WTSA

  • Expand the Mentorship Program: Expand the current mentorship program to offer both Leadership Mentorship and Event
Mentorship. Leadership Mentorship will support members interested in growing as leaders or running for state office. Event
Mentorship will connect experienced competitors with newer members to offer guidance on events, rubrics, and competition skills.
This expansion will make TSA more accessible and help members grow across districts and grades.
  • WTSA Resource Hub: Create an organized digital hub with guides, videos, and resources to make TSA easier to navigate for all
members. This will include a video breakdown of the TSA website, showing members how to find event guidelines, register for
competitions, and access important information. The hub will also offer tutorials on understanding rubrics, event breakdowns, and
tips for success. Available 24/7, the Resource Hub will help members feel confident and prepared at any time.
